One Party, Over All

Stephen Zunes tells us at Truthout why America is a one-party state when it comes to war. We are one-party economically as well: capitalism. Each ideology encompasses some small differences but all variations exist within a narrowly defined range. Few stray from the essential premises. The few who do are marginalized.

Maybe our new Pledge of Allegiance should be:
I pledge allegiance to the the United Corporation of America. One market, at war, with profits and riches for some.

Happy Patriot Day.

A Flash from the Past (Again)

A couple months ago, I posted about a site with photos of Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry in Vietnam. Bravo was my sister company in that battalion so the places were pretty much the same as my experience. Noodling around with the links from that site I came across another site with topo maps of our operations.

I was at FSB Silver in January 1971 and Jeffries in May. In between, the 2/8 operated mostly from FSB Fontaine which is in the same area of operations but not located on any of the maps. I recall Silver as dry, hard and dusty. Fontaine was dry and dusty. Jeffries was a mud hole.
